About this coffee

For the third year in a row, Kenyan Tonje Family is available. A sweet and fruity coffee from Kenya, favorite of Vincent! Think of notes of plum and nougat.

These grown coffee comes from Caruvianel Estate in Kenya. She has been growing coffee here alongside other crops like corn and potatoes for several years. But since she joined the Sakami cooperative, it’s now possible to actually earn money from coffee production here for the first time.

Mary Tonje was also very involved with the community. For instance, she built her own 'nursery' where coffee plants are raised. These she makes available to young people in her village so they can be actively involved in coffee production in a meaningful way.

After Mary Tonje passed away at 78 years old in July 2024, her children took over the farm and continued with the coffee production.
