About this coffee

Fazenda Do Lobo (“Farm of the Wolf”) is a family-run coffee farm located in Três Corações, in the Sul de Minas region of Brazil. Since acquiring the farm in 1996, it has been managed by Andrea and Marcos Foresti. Andrea comes from a fourth-generation coffee farming family, while Marcos, an agronomist engineer, is responsible for the technical and agricultural management of the farm.

The farm combines coffee production with a strong focus on environmental balance. A large part of the land is intentionally left untouched, preserving native vegetation and supporting biodiversity and the surrounding ecosystem.

Within the farm, an agroforestry pilot project has been developed, where coffee plants are grown alongside trees and other crops. This system is used to improve soil health and strengthen the microclimate around the coffee plants. The first harvest from this project is expected in the coming years.

In addition, the farm works with temporary cover crops between coffee rows and applies soil enhancers to actively support soil life. Pruning material from these plants is returned to the fields as compost, helping to naturally recycle nutrients within the system.

This approach has been recognised with 2nd place in the medium-sized farm category of the Sustainable Farm Award (Prêmio Fazenda Sustentável by Globo Rural / Rabobank), one of Brazil’s leading sustainability awards in agriculture.

This is an accessible coffee with a classic profile that bridges the gap between speciality coffee and traditional coffee drinkers. Enjoy the familiar flavours of nuts and dark chocolate we all love, but without the burnt and bitter aftertaste. Perfect for espresso and milk-based coffees. We were pleasantly surprised that this coffee has a little more complexity than some of our previous Brazilian coffees, making it a good choice for a more traditional tasting filter coffee.
