About this coffee
The Gasharu washing station is located near the Rwanda Congo Nile Mountain Chain. Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of the largest montane and most preserved montane rainforests in Central Africa. Gasharu is one of the two washing stations from Gasharu Coffee. They work with 1650 smallholders from the area. The farms grow mostly Red Bourbon at an altitude ranging from 1600 to 2100 masl. Gasharu normally does washed and natural processed coffees. But recently they started doing some experimental projects as well. In this case the coffee is fermented for an extended amount of time in anaerobic conditions before it was dried in the sun on raised african beds. So what to expect from an anaerobic Rwanda? It’s bolder, it’s sweeter and more funky with notes of a mixed berry jam with a milk chocolate finish.
