About this coffee

In the rugged hills of Concepción Huista, Huehuetenango, the El Sendero Cooperative brings together small coffee farmers to produce exceptional coffee. These tiny farms, averaging just 3 hectares, are situated between 1500 and 1900 meters above sea level. Pablo, once a coffee farmer himself, started the cooperative to ensure fair compensation and support for local growers. Using traditional and organic methods, the farmers recycle coffee pulp into fertilizer and treat water sustainably. Each coffee cherry is hand-picked by the farmers and their families, ensuring only the best beans are selected. With a strong sense of community, El Sendero provides its members with financial services, technical support, and access to low-cost farming inputs.

This is a friendly, full-bodied coffee, roasted so that it really is an all-rounder’s friend and comes out great as either espresso or a more traditional-tasting filter coffee. Striking a balance between chocolatey-nutty and mildly fruity flavours, it’s not surprising that this is one of our guests’ all-time favourites here at Ief&Ido.
