About this coffee
This Maghrib Ans XI lot is part of Qima’s Competition and 90+ Series, showcasing some of Yemen’s finest specialty coffees.
Grown at elevations between 1,800–2,000 MASL in the Ans region of western Yemen, this lot consists of genetically verified Yemenia. Ans is an ancient farming region with a coffee-growing history spanning thousands of years. Today, around 60 farming families cultivate coffee here, many relying on it as their primary source of income.
Despite its lush terrain, Ans presents significant challenges. The region faces frequent water shortages, limited infrastructure, and difficult access, with many villages reachable only via rugged paths. Families often transport water manually using livestock to sustain their crops.
Ans lies within the Dhamar governorate, located between Sana’a and Taiz. Dhamar is rich in history and remains agriculturally driven, producing some of Yemen’s most distinctive coffees due to its varied climate and topography.
This lot is processed using Alchemy method — a state-of-the-art approach combining controlled pressure, temperature, gas regulation, and managed drying to achieve some serious flavour clarity, structure and massive complexity.
This is certainly a head turner and show stopper.
